Haley Gill, a senior nutrition and dietetics major on the Bluffton golf team is set to graduate in May with the rest of the senior class. When asked if they were ready to graduate, it was an immediate yes.
After graduation Gill plans on continuing their education at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, through a medical laboratory science program.
Gill has many people cheering them on. But their mom has always been their top supporter.
“She has always been there for me, even if I just need someone to talk to,” said Gill.
Along with their other supporters, Gill has been largely impacted by the Bluffton University golf coach Adam Craig.
“He has always been there for me on campus if I need him,” said Gill. “And he has been a supporter on and off the course.”
Over the four years at Bluffton, Gill has made many memories through the golf program. One of their favorite memories was the annual Beaver Cup.
“It is always a great time in the fall,” said Gill. “It’s fun to get to play with different people in our program with some friendly competition.”
Outside of golf, Gill has also made many memories with their friends on and off campus. They enjoy hanging out on the weekends and attending different campus events together.
Friends are an important part of Gills life. According to Bobbi Adams, a senior primary P-5 education major and softball player, Gill is a very determined student and naturally intelligent person. Adams also described Gill as an athlete.
“Very focused and disciplined,” said Adams. “She practices all the time, like the week before spring break she was at the golf course every day working. Sets very high goals for herself.”
When it comes to Adams’ favorite memories with Gill it was hard to choose.
“My favorite times with her are when we just chill together, we are very chill friends with each other,” said Adams. “When she came home with me for Easter, that was fun. She lives in Indianapolis, so traveling to her house is a fun time. Going to the bowling alley. We love a bowling alley experience. Getting chipotle all the time is good too.”
Some may not know that Gill has broken their front tooth nine times. They also love to crochet and cross stitch and in the future they want to have a pet fish.
Before Gill graduates and heads off to their future endeavors, they have a few words for the incoming students and current underclassman at Bluffton.
“Do not stress about the little things because they will not matter that much in the future,” said Gill.
