ANDERSON, Ind. – The Bluffton University volleyball team cut down Anderson 3-2 on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025. Bluffton improved to 13-18 overall and 2-6 in the Heartland Conference, while the Ravens fell to 10-12 and 2-6 in the HCAC. The victory bolstered Bluffton’s chances of earning a berth in upcoming Heartland Conference tournament and it marked the first HCAC road win since October of 2022.
After a 25-18 victory in the lidlifter, Bluffton was on the verge of going up 2-0 with a 24-22 lead in set two. The home team rallied with five of the next six points for a 27-25 win before taking a 2-1 advantage with a 25-20 victory in the the third.
The visitors trailed 4-0 before a Coach Yarnell timeout early in set four. Bluffton bounced back to tie the score at nine apiece and then tie the match with a 25-22 victory in the equalizer. Anderson battled back from a 7-4 deficit in the fifth, but the Beavers pulled out the match with a 15-12 tally in the clincher.
Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) rode roughshod over the Ravens with a career-high 28 kills on Wednesday night! Fellow senior Bekah Pack (Lexington) and sophomore Madison Brentlinger (Indian Lake) also got in on the career-high business with 14 hammers apiece. Junior Kasey Sager (Troy) made it four Beavers in double figures with 10 kills.
Senior Gabby Williams (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) doled out a career-high 57 helpers, while Emma Organ (Lambertville, MI/St. Ursula Academy) picked up a match-high 25 digs. Abby Lawhorn (Cable/Mechanicsburg) and Williams scooped up 15 and 10 digs, respectively. Organ fired four aces and Pack was in on three blocks.
Bluffton will look to nail down its berth in the Heartland Conference tourney when the Beavers head to Rose-Hulman on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025. The first serve from Terre Haute, Ind., is slated for 1 p.m. in Hulbert Arena.
