Beavers shoot best round of season at MSJ

HARRISON, Ohio – The Bluffton University men’s golf team parlayed its best round of the season into an 11th place finish at the MSJ Stateline Shootout on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025. Bluffton followed its 326 on Saturday with a sparkling 312 on day two. It was the best round of the year for the men.

Sophomore Aaron Gerber (Vermilion) had it going on Sunday, pacing the Beavers with team-low 76. Senior Carson Brubaker (Shelby) followed with a 78, while the triumvirate of Drake Sommer (Montpelier), Matt Owen (Lima/Shawnee) and Jackson Eichler (Atwater/Waterloo) made it all five from Bluffton under 80 as they each carded 79’s!

Sommer led the squad with a 155 for the weekend after cracking 80 both days. Gerber followed with a 158. Brubaker, Owen and Eichler rounded out the 36-hole event with scores of 162, 163 and 165, respectively.

Bluffton is right back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4, when it hosts the annual Beaver Fall Classic at Bluffton Golf Club. The two-day event kicks off at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
