Cabaret for a Cause was held on Friday, April 1. The event consisted of food and performances by Bluffton University students. Performances included poetry, original songs, piano covers and a piece on the hurdy-gurdy.
The charge to attend was $6, with all proceeds going to the family of fallen Bluffton police officer Dominic Francis. Francis was killed March 31 when trying to place stop strips to stop a speeding vehicle.
Sodexo, Bluffton’s food provider, donated the food used for the appetizers, allowing for all of the proceeds to go to the family. The event raised over $1,000 for officer Francis’ family.
Students were served appetizers, such as a veggie tray and antigravity pasta—a deconstructed pasta on a skewer—and mocktails. Donuts finished out the meal served by Bluffton University Nutrition Organization (BUNA) members.
