Marbeck Center Board and Multicultural Student Organization will host a lip sync battle for students at 6 p.m. Feb. 26 in Yoder Recital Hall.
“Lip Sync Battle” is a popular television show that puts contestants up against one another to see who can one up the other while lip syncing to a chosen song. The first lip sync battle on Bluffton’s campus was last year. Bluffton students will either be in solo or group acts, and they will compete based on judges scores.
“I love it because it is a more student-driven initiative,” said Tyson Goings, director of Residence Life. “Students get to show their vision for how they want their act to go, and it is also great because it gives students something to do on campus. People cannot say there is nothing to do and then not come to the lip synch battle.”
Goings said it will be a great time and students should expect that, but people also come to win and to compete and that is what makes it so exciting. Goings also said he could not wait to see what people were going to do when performing.
Nine to 10 contestants are signed up for solo and group efforts. Last year showed similar participation numbers.
“This adds more life to campus, and that is hard to do in the wintertime when nobody wants to go outside,” said Quincy Salcido, admissions counselor and 2019 alumnus. “This is an indoor event that people can come to and watch the contestants battle it out.”
