Marbeck Center Board will host one of the most cherished Bluffton athletic events of the year at 10 p.m. Thursday — Dam Jam. The event will celebrate the fifth anniversary of Sommer Center and aims to get students amped for the winter sports season.
The Sommer Center doors will open at 9:30 p.m., and the first 100 people through the door will get an exclusive “Dam Jam” T-shirt. This isn’t where the fun stops, though. Four words can get just about anyone excited: prizes and free food. Hotdogs, popcorn and drinks will be provided throughout the entirety of event.
“I don’t really even know what it is,” said first-year student Trent Mast. “I’m going to go just so I can see what it is.”
The prizes aren’t your average Monday night bingo prizes, either. Every student has a chance to win the grand prize of an Amazon HD Fire 10 tablet. Every student who walks through the door has a chance to compete for other prizes. Slipping your name in raffles to play one of the many games against some of the basketball players, other students and most excitingly, some of the faculty.
Some of the other prizes students would have to compete for are a Keurig coffee machine, a Fitbit and JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth speaker. The games in which you’d compete are a three-point contest, a pick-a-prize shootout, dribble knock out and a faculty versus students five-on-five basketball game.
