On April 2, the Bluffton University Softball team found success against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
This game had a slow start with Bluffton down 3-0 in the first three innings. However, this changed towards the middle of the third inning when freshman Madison Jones hit a homerun to left center. This was one of just two collegiate home runs for Jones in her career at Bluffton.

This was closely followed by a grand-slam home run to left center by Bobbi Adams, who also pitched for the innings prior.
A third home run was made in the seventh inning by freshman, Lexus Rutledge. This was her first collegiate home run at Bluffton and ended with a walk-off.
In this game, Bluffton won 8-7. Freshman softball player, Madisyn Sheppard said her team “practiced hard for a win like this.”

In the second game, Bluffton had another slow start, with Rose-Hulman leading 5-0 in the first inning. Things looked bleak for Bluffton’s team, however they made a fast comeback toward the end of the first inning.
The game finished strong with Hailey Lewis advancing to third-base and Taylor Shrimp scoring on a wild-pitch.
There were no home runs this game, with Bluffton still winning 5-6.
“I’m proud of my team for working so hard for these two wins,” said Sheppard. “I’m especially proud of Lexus for scoring her first home run. That was a very special moment for me to watch, and definitely one of our best moments in the game.”
