Prospective students Experience Bluffton

On Sunday, March 25, prospective students for the class of 2022 came to Experience Bluffton for a night of games and activities as well as a chance to meet other prospective students.

After check in, the prospective students met in Bob’s Place, where they got to know some of the other incoming students through some opening activities, such as Two Truths and a Lie and Find Your Match. After the introductions were complete, the guests moved to Ramseyer Auditorium in College Hall, where they attended Sunday Night Worship. After this, the Amazing Race began.

During the Amazing Race, the prospective students had eight locations they had to go and challenges at each location before finishing back in Bob’s Place.

Some of the places they went were Sommer Center, where each of the students had to make a basket and then take a group picture with J. Denny Beaver. Another place the students went to was the communication lab, where they were challenged to create a one-liner for the radio station, 96.1 The Wit. They also went to Sauder Visual Arts Center, where they played pictionary. They went to Musselman Library and to College Hall to find the Learning Resource Center and to Ramseyer Auditorium.

After the Amazing Race, the prospective student had activities and food waiting for them in Bob’s Place. There were pizza, chips and drinks.

The prospective students had a choice in what activities they could choose to do. They could play board games like Gestures, Scrabble, The Game of Life. There was a life size Jenga set that prospective students could play against each other on. They could paint a canvas and put a beaver on it, get a self portrait drawn of them, play ping pong, pool, Foosball, and even the Wii.

At 11 p.m., the prospective students were released into the hands of their overnight hosts, current students.

Overall, many of the recruits thought that Experience Bluffton was a worthwhile event.

“Personally, I enjoyed Experience Bluffton,” said prospective student Taylor Cawthorn. “It was nice to meet my future classmates. Everyone was nice and willing to start a conversation. It was informative yet full of activities, so it wasn’t boring. I enjoyed the activities and staying with my host.”
