Lily Tate, sophomore middle childhood education major, has been elected as the new president of Bluffton University Student Senate. Here’s a chance to get to know her a little better.

Why did you decide to run for Bluffton University Student Senate president?

I believe that I can help make positive changes on campus that will benefit everyone. I really enjoy student politics, and I believe that my skill set and experiences would allow me to effectively represent the Bluffton University student body.

What is your favorite part about being involved with Bluffton University student senate?

My favorite part has been making connections with students and faculty. I also like knowing that I am helping to make a difference — big or small — by being in the student senate.

What are your goals/ priorities as student body president?

My first priority will be to make sure that decisions we make are an accurate reflection of what the student body wants and values. As of right now, my other goals are to improve campus vibrancy and inclusivity, provide more recognition for students placed on the Dean’s List, foster more collaboration between campus clubs and non-profit/volunteer groups, and to continue to improve Marbeck meals.

Favorite thing about Bluffton ?

My favorite thing about Bluffton  is that when I walk from my dorm room to a class, I can never make it the whole way without seeing someone that I know. I love seeing my friends, classmates, and acquaintances so regularly and being able to say hi.
