The second annual Bluffton University “Play Date” will be April 7 and 8.
“Play Date is an opportunity for students to write, direct, act and produce an original series of 10-minute plays in a weekend,” said Professor of Theatre and Communication Dr. Melissa Friesen.
“Play Date” is a great chance for Bluffton students to come together, separate into teams, write, rehearse and perform plays for the public. Each team will have one director, one playwright and two to three actors. The play write will receive a prompt, dialogue and a prop, and will have one night to create a brand new, 10-minute or less play using the resources they have been given. The teams will come together the next morning and the director and actors will spend the whole day rehearsing the original play. Teams will perform the plays for the public at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Ramseyer Auditorium.
If you are interested in participating in “Play Date,” Friesen suggests contacting senior Brianna Lugibihl.
“Brianna Lugibihl is our primary organizer,” said Friesen. “She is organizing basically the entire event, but also helping coordinate who wants to be directors, actors and play writes so we can have an even distribution.”
Lugibihl can be contacted by phone at (419) 979-8823 or by email at lugbra@bluffton.edu.
Students who want to participate but have not signed up, can still show up at the April 7 meeting in Ramseyer Auditorium.
