Written by Ty Avila

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Bluffton University men’s basketball team (8-10, 5-6 HCAC) traveled to the Druley Performance Gym in Richmond Jan. 24 and squared off against the Quakers from Earlham College (5-13, 3-6 HCAC) and lost 76-63.

Shooting 50 percent from the field, 50 percent from the three-point line and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line in the first half, Bluffton rode a 39-35 lead into the half. Leading the charge for the Beavers was sophomore guard Andrew Renner (Cairo/Bath). Following behind Renner were senior captains Kevin Christie (Dayton/Bishop Fenwick) and Andrew Hunter (Arlington) with eight points apiece.

The second half went wayside for the Beavers. After shooting 50 percent from the field in the first, they came out with a lid on their hoop, shooting an abysmal 33.3 percent from the field and going zero for ten from behind the 3-point line. The Beavers had three players finish with double-digit scoring; Christie and Renner both with 16 points and Hunter finished with 12.
