Nacho fries are seasoned French fries that come with a side of cheese sauce. They can come as a meal or be added as a side. Taco Bell has also introduced a nacho fry buffalo chicken topping. At $2, nacho fries are an affordable food option for local college students. Some Bluffton students were excited when Taco Bell announced the fries would return in late January. Not only are the fries a seasonal selection at Taco Bell franchises, they are also a well- known fan-favorite.

“The buffalo chicken topping has made nacho fries even more popular,” said Dane Metter, local Taco Bell employee and Bluffton student. “Student business has really picked up since the return of nacho fries. Sometimes students order three to four orders at a time. They are cheap and tasty – perfect for a college student and a late-night snack.”

As the excitement and expectation for spring and warmer weather rises, nacho fries give Bluffton students even more to look forward to.

“Waiting for the cold weather to end can be a long and dreary process, nacho fries make the winter months a little more bearable,” says Jade Case, sophomore exercise science major at Bluffton University.

Metter also said it can be hard to guess how long the fries will stay on the menu because the franchise has not yet indicated that the addition will be permanent.

The local Taco Bell stays open until 2 a.m., later than the other fast food restaurants in Bluffton. Students who are up late doing homework, studying – or just hanging out – are now glad to have something that makes staying up a little easier.

“There are not many food selections within Bluffton, and it can sometimes be a pain to have to drive 20 to 25 minutes to Findlay or Lima for something different,” said Kylie Brock, junior dietetics major. “Nacho fries make eating in town easy and enjoyable every day of the week.”
