Bluffton University’s homecoming committee hosted Build-a-Beaver in Bob’s Place Oct. 9.

The homecoming committee had at least one event planned each evening for students to enjoy leading up to homecoming weekend. Build-a-Beaver, though, was the most anticipated throughout campus.

Word had spread that there were a limited amount of beavers available to stuff. Students began congregating before 7:45 p.m. for the event which began at 9 p.m. to guarantee themselves a beaver.

“I was so excited to make my own beaver,” sophomore Amber Edwards said. “My roommate and I went to Bob’s at 8 p.m. just to make sure we got there on time.”

The race to grab an empty beaver and a shirt began the instant the doors were opened.

Stuffing was scattered on a table for students to fill their beavers. Sharpies were also available for students to personalize a white mini T-shirts for their beavers to flaunt.

The homecoming committee also offered pumpkin decorating. Students had the choice of pumpkins in various sizes and paint to get creative.

A variety of treats were also offered during the event. Apple cider, hot chocolate and pumpkin spice coffee were the beverages of the night. There was also a caramel apple bar. Students could choose different toppings including Oreos and peanuts.

In the end there were more than enough beavers for the eager students. The laughs, snickers and conversations could be heard throughout the building as memories were made.

“We had a blast,” said Edwards. “And my beaver, Benji, is adorable.”
