Riley Creek Festival draws students together

Bluffton University’s Marbeck Center Board hosted the annual Riley Creek Festival on Saturday, May 1, on Lincoln Lawn. The festival showcased a variety of games and activities including Giant Jenga, Trash Pong, American Ninja Warrior obstacle course, axe throwing, corn hole, the Bluffton 500 tricycle race and  others.

Student Senate was also involved in the making of the Riley Creek Festival “pregame” where they supplied Bluffton Bread Company products and other snacks throughout the festival. They were also in charge of selling rubber ducks the week before and during the festival for the annual Duck Race. The ducks were $1, and every dollar raised the Student Senate matched and donated to the local food pantry. Student Senate was also responsible for funding the ‘Mini-Melts’ (very similar to Dippin’ Dots) provided during the festival.

“The weather stayed nice,” said Lily Tate, student senate president. “And even though it was a weekend with at least three sporting events, there was still a good turnout.”
