Take Back the Night march for sexual assault awareness

As a gateway to Title IX week, P.E.A.C.E. Club hosted Take Back the Night event on April 9, starting with a speech by sexual assault survivor and activist Tim Mousseau in Bluffton University Sommer Center.

The event organization was led by P.E.A.C.E. Club president and junior history AYA major Cierra Long.

After Mousseau finished sharing his story and creating awareness for sexual assault on college campuses, students and faculty in attendance marched from Sommer Center to the south side of campus by Bren-Dell Hall, across Bentley Rd. and back to Sommer. During the march, participants held signs made by students the previous night and chanted throughout campus.

The event ended after a “Speak Out” session where those in attendance were given the opportunity to stand and say they were a survivor of sexual assault.
