Hannah Tarski is the new assistant coach for the Bluffton University Softball team.

Tarski said she has already begun to see how the softball team is very family oriented and all of the players have each other’s backs on and off the field.

“They have lots of fun together and work very hard,” Tarski said. “They are always asking for more work and to be helped on an individual basis.”

She said the women on the team are eager to learn more and improve. She said their dedication reminds her of her own dedication as an athlete. She said dedication and good attitudes can change the entire atmosphere.

“I think that I can benefit the softball program with all of my playing and coaching experience,” Tarski said. “I am very motivated and have a passion for the sport.”

Tarski has been active in softball programs since she began playing at age 3. She has volunteered to coach with youth teams and has also coached at the high school level for four years.

Tarski hopes to help improve the team as a whole by giving advice to the outfielders and different tactics and skills on fielding the ball.

“I hope to learn more about the ins and outs of the college softball program,” Tarski said, “I am excited to learn about all the things that many people don’t think about that are part of the behind the scenes activities.”

Tarski said another benefit is how she can handle just about any situation that arises. She also said being a student-athlete during her four years of college has impacted her most by learning time management skills.

Tarski received her bachelor’s degree in sports management and finance from Marietta College where she played on the college’s softball team for four years. She has a master’s degree in sports management from West Virginia University.

“Overall, I want to apply my knowledge that with the right attitude and commitment, you can go a long way on and off the field,” said Tarski.

Although Tarski has just begun her assistant coaching position, she is already dreaming of eventually becoming a head coach at the collegiate level within the years to come.
