Wilson grew up in West Philadelphia, Pa., and graduated from Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, Pa. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary childhood education. She recently returned from Honduras in June of 2018 from teaching fourth graders.

“I’ve always known I wanted to be a teacher and to teach in a Spanish-speaking country, that was the end goal,” Wilson said.

During her last year in Honduras she was visited by a friend and Bluffton alumna Laurie Nofziger. As a result of that interaction, Wilson said she was interested in learning more about Bluffton.

“I wanted to receive my master’s degree and wanted to do something in residence life, which led me to Bluffton,” Wilson said. “My friend Laurie also told me many great things about the university as a whole.”

Wilson said she finds the Bluffton Community very appealing and enjoyable.

“Everyone here is very friendly, and it’s definitely an adjustment as well as a learning experience,” said Wilson.

“Attending Bluffton has been a great experience so far, with learning the culture of an institution and how things are done.”

She enjoys the being with students and faculty on and off campus.

Wilson’s goals for the year ahead include earning her master’s degree in higher education with a concentration in student affairs, finding a healthy balance of hands-on experience being a residence hall director, searching for ways to best support her resident advisors, and getting to know her residents.

“I really want to do this job well,” said Wilson. “I am very much a doer and go-getter, which is why I enjoy being a part of the Bluffton community.”
