Meet Bluffton’s 2020-21 hall directors

Hall directors are in charge of an entire building at Bluffton University. Their jobs include looking out for the wellbeing of their residents while also also supporting residence advisors. This will be your first chance to get to meet the 2020-21 hall directors.

Michael Fimiani, a senior criminal justice and psychology major and sociology minor wanted to become a hall director so that he could help and build a larger community throughout a whole building and not just a single floor. He enjoyed being a resident adviser for the past two years and I wanted to challenge himself this upcoming year.

He is very excited to work with the staff of Bren-Dell and Hirschler Hall next year and having the opportunity to get to know all the new students and see those coming back.

Kori Frey, a senior social work and psychology major, wanted to earn the position of hall director because she wants to help encourage and guide the rising leaders on campus. Through her two years of being an RA, she was challenged by her hall director in order to reach her full potential. She wants to help others grow in their potential, not only as a leader but as a person as well.

She is most excited to work with her staff next year. She believes her staff has a lot of different personalities coming together as RAs in the Hirschy Complex and each one brings something unique to the table.

Tyson approached Nicholas Hoffman with an offer to be a Hall Director for next year, despite the fact that he will be graduating. It was a good opportunity for him to have a place to stay and work after graduation, while also pursuing a master’s degree in Accounting from Bowling Green State University. It also gives him more opportunities to teach others about what he has learned in Residence Life over the past few years. This will be his fourth year in Residence Life, and second year as a hall director.

He is most excited to see what he is able to do now that he fully understands how everything works. He looks forward to helping his resident advisors grow to their best versions of themselves and teaching them how to help others along the way.

Lenny Winiarski, a senior history major, has been an RA for the last two years, and he wanted a role where he is able to share his experiences with the new RAs. He believes it will be fun and challenging to help them become leaders on campus.

He is excited about having the ability to create community throughout an entire hall instead of just a smaller floor. He enjoys planning and hosting events and being able to plan events for all of Ramseyer sounds very exciting to him.

Karly Bliley, a higher education major, wanted to be a hall director to give back to the students at Bluffton. She was deeply impacted by hall directors and RAs during her four years as an undergraduate student. She wants to be able to help students during their time at college and see where this journey takes them. Bliley will be working on her master’s degree at Bluffton University after finishing her undergraduate at Messiah College.

She is most excited just to give back and pour into the students. She believes walking alongside them during their college years is important. Meeting the students and getting to see how they are doing is exciting.
