RAs for the 2020-21 school year

Resident advisors are in charge of a floor for each hall throughout the campus. They are there to help with any problems such as residents being locked out of their room or helping get things fixed that might break. Here is your first opportunity to meet the 2020-21 Blufffton RAs.

Caroline Schutz

Caroline Schutz, a senior TESOL major, decided to be an RA again because it makes her happy. Last year was her favorite year of school so far and she believes that being an RA played a large part in that.

“I just had a lot of fun and [I] am grateful for the opportunity to return again for the upcoming school year,” said Schutz.

She is most excited to live in a new building and get to know her new residents. She really enjoyed last year as a new RA and feels like being moved to a residence hall she was unfamiliar with, in addition to being surrounded by new people, allowed her the opportunity to grow in really positive ways.

“Living in the apartments will provide me with a great space, as well as new challenges, to work towards doing the same thing,” said Schutz. “I’m also hoping that some of my residents can teach me how to cook.”

They made her feel like she had found her home away from home. The people at Bluffton University became like her family. Whenever she needed help, they didn’t hesitate to help her, so she wants to be able to support others in the same way that she was supported. Her main goal is to make sure that her residents feel the same sense of family that she feels at Bluffton.

Avilez likes meeting new people, so she would love to do different activities to get to know her residents, and in that way, they can all build a great community where they all respect and care for one another.
