Looking for you Around the Horn

Students, friends, faculty and staff, welcome back!

This time of year represents a long-awaited return for some of us, and a miserable shuffle for those who are not looking forward to the summer ending.

Nevertheless, we are united in the commonality of reaching our goals.

My goal as a student, athlete, friend, family member, proud dog owner and human being is to make the people around me feel comfortable and excited to be themselves.

This my friends, is Around the Horn.

To me, Around the Horn means a new start but an old friend. The familiar feel of a sentimental value or a time where you fell in love and realized it in that moment. Around the Horn has been a staple of The Witmarsum for more than 80 years, and to be the person who gets to carry on the tradition is an honor.

If I have yet to meet you in person, I hope that the opportunity comes “around,” as Bluffton has provided me with substantial evidence of the ability to make friends and be yourself while doing so.

Also, throw your ideas, poems, advice, pictures, jokes and puns my way, as I will try my best to include them in my bi-weekly articles of Around the Horn.

Wishing you a strong start to the semester!

Sounding off on the horn,

Colten McCabe
