Two graduates share their post-graduate adventures

Even though the class of 2021’s time as Bluffton University students has come to an end, many of them are already preparing for their post-graduate endeavors. Nicole Centofanti, convergent media major and former managing editor for The Wit, is heading to Vancouver, British Columbia, to participate in the Vancouver Film School’s four-month Acting Essentials Program. Sienna Sullivan, criminal justice major, is going to Capital University to pursue her law degree.

The Acting Essentials Program at the Vancouver Film school is a preparatory program for the year-long program in film and television. Centofanti was one of only fourteen applicants to be accepted into the program. After successfully completing the acting essentials program, Centofanti is hoping to enter the film and television program and continue to move closer to achieving her goal of being a television voice actor.

“I had to take some time to think about what kind of program was going to help me reach my goals,” said Centofanti when asked why she chose the Vancouver Film School. “After doing some research, I found the Vancouver Film School. Its preparatory program in acting essentials seemed like a good place for me to get more experience and teaching in acting.”

Centofanti will begin the program at the end of August. She is most looking forward to working with new people and experiencing living in a new country.

“I’ve heard that Vancouver is one of the most diverse cities in Canada,” said Centofanti. “I’m really excited to experience different cultures and environments.”

Centofanti credits her love for voice acting and media to the convergent media practicum courses she took while she was a Bluffton student.

“I fell in love with being on microphone while taking (Convergent Media) practicums two and three,” said Centofanti. “We got a lot of hands-on experience during these courses.”

Sullivan is excited to pursue her law degree because she believes that the criminal justice system is in need of change.

“Being an attorney has been my dream and passion for as long as I can remember,” said Sullivan. “The criminal justice system needs change, and I want to be that change and help from the inside out.”

Capital University is located in Columbus, Ohio, where Sullivan is originally from. Part of the reason she decided on this university was because she wanted to go back to her roots.

“After looking at all my options, I decided I wanted to go home and start my career in the heart of Ohio,” said Sullivan.

Sullivan is most looking forward to being back in the big-city atmosphere after spending four years in rural Bluffton, Ohio.

“I’m really looking forward to the change in scenery,” said Sullivan. “I’m really excited to dive head-first into my calling and fulfill my life-long dream of being a criminal justice attorney.”
